A última colecção de Alta Costura apresentada pelo criador libanês, em Paris, há poucas semanas atrás, estruturou-se nas mesmas nas mesmas silhuetas elegantes e oníricas a que nos habituou. Ainda assim, esta terá sido uma das suas mais deslumbrantes produções. Apesar do uso incansável de brilhos, os looks surgiam polidos vistosos q.b. (Elie Saab é simplesmente incapaz de pegar em lantejoulas e criar peças de roupa de gosto duvidoso). A paleta de cores - dourados low profile, pêssegos sedosos, nudes cristalizados, rosados poudrée, azuis reais e pretos esfumados - transmitia o magnetismo do luxo, a suavidade da pele e a eternidade do sonho. 

The Libanese designer's latest Haute Couture collection, presented in Paris a couple weeks ago, was structured by the same elegant and onyric silhouettes he got us used to. Still, this just might have been one of his most inspiring works. Although he always bejewels a lot of items, the looks came out polish and flashy in the right dose (Elie Saab just can't pick up a bunch of sequins and make tacky clothes out of them). The coloue palette - composed of low profile golds, silky peaches, crystal nudes, poudrée pinks, royal blues and smoky blacks - transmited the magnetism of luxury, the softness of skin and the eternity of dreams.

Regardless the colour they own, Elie Saab's designs conquered their place among the timeless classics. It's fair to say fortunately there is someone who's almost to stable and almost imune to time. Stability brings certainty and safety and, in Elie's case, no boredom at all. His dresses, unarguably beautiful, are a safe choice. Comparable to artistic masterpieces, they transform women in lovely princesses, heavenly creatures or nymphes of lust, giving them a superior beauty and a fierce confidence. Well, in a dress like those, who wouldn't fell the fairest of them all?

Valentino's latest Haute Couture collection, magnificently brought up by Pier Paolo Piccioli and Maria Grazia Chiuri, graced the catwalk as a glimpse of an addicting universe. Each new outfit, ethereal and dark, caught the eyes and vanished all explanations from the minds of those who tried to absorve it.

Por entre brisas misteriosas de tecidos finíssimos, brocados e bordados a perder de vista e outros detalhes de beleza adoravelmente feminina, algo ia ficando cada vez mais claro. A base da colecção já não era o emblemático vermelho Valentino da maison, nem tão pouco os rosas suaves a que os herdeiros de Garavani nos foram habituando.

In the middle of mysterious breezes made of the finest fabrics, brocades and embroideries that went beyond the horizon of sight and other details of an adorably feminine beauty, something was getting more and more clear. The base of the collection was no longer the iconic Valentino Red, netheir it was the soft shades of pink Garavani's heirs got us used to.

Cortando definitivamente o cordão umbilical que os fazia, respeitosamente, revisitar os códigos do fundador da marca a cada estação, Chiuri e Piccioli vestiram a Valentino com as tonalidades mais sublimes, profundas e nocturnas do azul. Sem descartarem a beleza, a delicadeza, a feminilidade e o romance, pilares da maison, a dupla italiana voltou a encantar. Desta vez, esse encanto foi mais espantoso e estimulante. Reclamando para si a Valentino, trocaram a extroversão alegre por uma introversão contida. Inspirados no romantismo e na decadência do século XIX, transformaram a menina de ar doce e namorisqueiro numa mulher bela e inatingível, de sensualidade severa. O luxo opulento perdeu em luz o que ganhou em presença. Mais discreta e modesta, essa presença exalava uma altivez inquietante... Desconcertante... Fascinante.

Cutting the umbilical cord, that made them respectfully revisit the brand's founder codes each season, once and for all, Chiuri and Piccioli got Valentino dressed in the most sublime, profound and nightly shades of blue. Without even trying to put away the beauty, the delicacy, the femininity and the romance, the maison's backbone, the italian duo charmed once again. This time, that charm was more spectacular and exciting. Owning Valentino, the designers traded the joyful extroversion for a contained introversion. Inspired by romantic and the decadent sides of the 19th century, they transformed the sweet and flirtatious girl into a woman of unattainable beauty and severe sensuality. The opulent luxury lost in light what it gained in allure. More discrete and modest, that allure exhaled a disturbing and silightly arrogant poise... Perplexing... Fascinating.

Louis Vuitton F/W 2012/13 Finale

Com o desfile de Outono/Inverno 2012/13 da Louis Vuitton, Marc Jacobs encerrou a Semana da Moda de Paris com um espectáculo grandioso. Superando até a sua excentricidade e fazendo “vista grossa” à crise económica que assola a Europa, engendrou um verdadeiro comboio a vapor, de oito milhões de dólares, cujo destino eram os finais do século XIX/inícios do século XX, altura em que a Louis Vuitton era já uma marca emblemática no sector das malas e artigos de viagem de luxo.

Uma de cada vez, as modelos desembarcavam - auxiliadas por bagageiros de uniforme que carregavam as suas exóticas malas e carteiras Louis Vuitton ao longo da passerelle -, trazendo para o exterior do comboio uma parafernália de cores e tecidos de alta tecnologia. O aspecto geral da colecção era propositadamente antiquado, visto que o designer quis que “as coisas parecessem vindas de outros tempos”.

Marc Jacobs ended Paris Fashion Week making a great spectacle out of Louis Vuitton Fall/Winter 2012/13 fashion show. Going beyond his own eccentricity and looking away from the crises that is making Europe save the pennies, he brought a real 8 million dollars steam train to the runway! Time-travelling from the late XIX/early XX century - a time when Louis Vuitton was famous luxury travelling goods brand already -, the models, one by one, deboarded the train with the help of porter in uniforms, who carried their exotic Louis Vuitton Bags on the runway.
In an incredible spectre of colours and high-tech fabrics, the whole collection looked old-fashioned. On purpose, of course! Jacobs wanted "things to look like they were from another time".

Sem dúvida, foi também dos meus desfiles favoritos para a próxima estação (nunca consigo nomear apenas um! Sim, tenho graves problemas de síntese...)! Olho para as fotografias e só me apetece tocar (já nem falo em experimentar!) em todas aquelas roupas, sentir as texturas luxuriantes, deixar-me hipnotizar pelas cores e pelos brilhos... Adoro tudo! Não resisto aos casacos (o da imagem acima é o meu eleito!) e fico fascinada com as carteiras e os chapéus, fabulosos e algo cómicos. Tudo é pensado ao pormenor e nenhum centímetro escapa ao feitiço da beleza.

It was one of my absolute favorite shows for the next season (well, I can never pick only one! Yes, I can't be that synthetic...)! I look at the pictures and all I want is to be able to touch the clothes (I won'teven say try them on), feel the luxuriant textures, be hypnotized by the colours and shimmers... I love it all! I can't resist the coats (especially the one in the picutre above) and I'm fascinated by the bags and the fabulous and a bit humurous hats. Every detail is thoughtfully cherished and no centimetre escapes the spell of beauty.

A campanha publicitária, lançada há pouco mais de uma semana, recria um ambiente nostálgico, delicado e muito romântico. Leva-nos realmente a viajar no tempo, da forma mais requintada e apetecível.
The ad campaign, released a little more than a week ago, creates a romantic, nostalgic and very delicate environment that leads us through a delightfull travel in time.

The rain makes long for a new winter

Estes últimos dias invernosos já conseguiram pôr-me a pensar no que vou comprar no próximo Inverno... Bom, como não sou rica o bastante para exigir roupas antes das lojas as exibirem, contento-me a ver e a deixar-me inspirar pelas belezas que só poderei tocar em Setembro!

Este desfile de Nina Ricci está tão bonito, tão elegante e tão suave... Tão repleto de texturas luxuosas e sedas tentadoras... E, para além disso, mostra alguns detalhes que me agradam particularmente. Façam por reparar e anotar os seguintes pormenores (caso me esqueça de voltar a falar neles na devida altura ;) ), que tenho a certeza que não se vão arrepender de ter num cantinho da memória ou no fundo do bloco de notas:
- o chapéu de pêlo. Não é o acessório mais adorável de sempre?
- as luvas altas. Um básico da elegância intemporal.
- as carteiras sedosas cor-de-pêssego. Definitivamente, um must-have!
- a forma como as colas de pêlo assentam nos casacos. Pura perfeição!

Aproveitem a chuva para sonharem com as beldades do próximo inverno ;)


These last wintery days have made me start wishing for some new clothes for the cold season... Well, as I'm not rich enough to be demanding clothes before they hit the stores, I must content myself to watch and be inspired by the beauties I'll be able to touch in Septembre! 

This Nina Ricci show soooo beautiful, lady-like and soft... The textures are so lustful and the silks so tempting... And there are some details I particularly fancy. Make sure to notice and write down the following (just in case I forget to tell you all about at the appropriate time ;) ). You won't regret having in the back of head of note pad:
- the fur hat. Isn't it the most gorgeous thing ever?
- the tall gloves. A timeless basic of elegance.
- the silky peachy handbags. Those are a must-have!
- the way the fur collars are laid on the coats. Pure perfection!

Moda Lisboa

Apesar de não suscitarem ainda o encanto de cortar a respiração de semanas da moda como as de Milão e Paris, desfilaram nas passereles lisboetas uma série demonstrações de bom gosto e sofisticação. Com o próximo Inverno como alvo, as propostas dos criadores portugueses revelaram-se bastante apetecíveis.

Despite they still can't reach the razzle dazzle of Milan and Paris fashion weeks, the looks showcased in Lisbon were good in taste and sophistication. Directed to next winter, the portuguese designers' proposals ended up to be quite appealing.

Desta vez, tive a oportunidade de assistir ao desfile de Luís Buchinho. Adorei! A colecção, inspirada na calçada portuguesa, era simultaneamente detentora de um futurismo arrojado e usável sem qualquer desconstrução. A meu ver, os casacos estilizados e as calças justas tricolores  destacavam-se pela estrutura dinâmica e pela forma como esculpiam o corpo feminino, realçando, sem deformar, as suas sinuosidades naturais. Por último, o próprio look das modelos - esvoaçantes cabelos aprumados e lábios vermelho vinho sobre uma tez imaculada - suavizava, com elegância, as linhas mais geométricas da roupa.

This time I had the chance to attend Luís Buchinho's fashion show. I loved it! The collection, inspired by the "calçada portuguesa", was so futuristic as it was wearable without a slight deconstruction. In my opinion, the boldly designed perfectos and the tight trousers were the key pieces. They stood out for their dynamic structure and the way they sculpted the body without desfigure its natural curves. At last, the models looks - light well groomed hair and red wine lips over a perfect skin - softned elegantly the clothes geometric lines.
