"Vou voltar-me para as raízes, identificando os códigos da marca e traduzindo-os para um guarda-roupa completo e funcional", disse Alexander Wang. O novo diretor criativo da Balenciaga é um nova iorquino de 29 anos, cujas criações impressionates de streetwear se transformam em êxitos mal "pisam" a passerelle. Mas estaria Wang preparado para dirigir uma das mais poderosas e aclamadas marcas de Alta Costura de sempre? Eu acredito que sim.

"I'm going back to the roots, identifying the codes of the house, and translating them into a functioning, full wardrobe,"said Alexander Wang. Balenciaga's new creative director is a 29-year-old New York boy whose impressive streetwear designs turn to hits the moment they're seen on the catwalk. But was he ready to take the helm of this major couture house? Well, I think he was.

À semelhança do próprio Cristobal Balenciaga, Wang é um construtor de formas, um mestre de geometrias improváveis fluente na linguagem do estilo. Na sua estreia, o jovem designer optou pela solidez da segurança e "não partiu a loiça toda". De facto, a coleção poderia ter refletido um pouco mais da personalidade arrojada do novo criador. Poderia ter sido mais espetacular. Mas não deixou deslumbrar com a subtileza uma elegância algo futurista e um domínio da técnica que Alexander parece ter herdado diretamente do próprio Cristobal.

Assistimos a um recomeço, a um voltar à estaca zero, à origem de um referencial ao qual Wang não parará de somar pontos num futuro próximo. Foi a introspeção antes da extroversão.

 E, agora que já fala Balenciaga, o jovem que se ficou por rachar o mármore antigo e perene poderá deixar uma marca verdadeiramente sua na História da Moda. O seu momento chegou.

Like Cristobal Balenciaga himself, Wang is a shape builder, a master of unexpected geometries fluent in the language of style. For his debute, the young designer played safe and solid instead of "bringing the house down". In fact, the collection could have reflected his risk taking personality a bit more. It could have been more spectacular. However, the excitment was all there a subtle kind of futuristic elegance produced by an exquisite technique Alexander seems to have inherited directly from Cristobal.

We assisted a restart, a reset, as Wang went back to the origin of a chart ready to receive new scores. Introspection before extrovertion.

And now he speaks Balenciaga, the young man who did no more but opening craks through the old everlasting marble will be able to leave his own signature in Fashion History. His time has come.

Tem 29 anos, uma marca sensação em nome próprio e acabou de ser nomeado diretor criativo da Balenciaga. Pois é, Alexander Wang tomou o lugar de Nicholas Guesquière em Paris e o mundo da moda anseia a sua estreia. Mas ainda estamos em Nova Iorque, no paraíso das it girls sobre quem o designer exerce uma atração magnética. Aí mesmo, na "grande maçã", Wang demonstrou que está mais do que pronto para o grande combate pariesense.

Num cenário fosco, guerreiras determinadas sugiram da neve e do nevoeiro, armadas com luvas de pelo e protegidas por casacos oversized de linhas arredondadas. Esses casacos cinzentos e cintura descaída, construídos a partir das lãs mais nobres, mostram-se fortes em contornos bem gráficos, bem a la Alexander Wang.

Alguns coordenados pareciam evocar os anos 20. Cinturas baixas com pormenores de torcidos, alguns brilhos e saias midi evasé. Certo e inegável foi o portagonismo das texturas. Do aspeto algo indefenido à suavidade luxuosa do toque, lãs mohair foram penteadas, astrakhans misturados com seda, cabedais debruados a alpaca. Para finalizar, os contornos das peças sucumbiram à alta definação e ao requinte do cetim duquesa. Mas sempre com um acompanhante felpudo capaz de desconstruir a polidez construindo interesse sensorial.

He's 29, runs a sensational eponymous brand and just got hired as creative director at Balenciaga. That's right, Alexander Wang was given Nicholas Guesquière's place in Paris and the world of fashion craves his premiere. But we're still in New York, a paradise for the it girls the designer atracts as magnets. There, in the "big apple", Wang proved his more than ready for the grand parisian match.

In a blurry set, fierce fighters rose from the snow and the fog, armed with furry super gloves and protected by rounded oversized coats. Those grey coats with low waist lines were built from the finest wools and stood strong in graphic contours a la Alexander Wang.

Some outfits looked 20's inspired. Dropped waists with twisted details, some shinny large paillettes and midi A-line skirts. Certain and undeniable was the textures' protagonism. From the somehow blurred outlines to the luxurious smoothness of touch, mohairs were brushed to a hairy appearence, astrakhans were mingled with silk and leathers trimmed with alpaca. In the end, the clothes' contours turned to an exquisite and high-definition version in duchesse satins. Still, they were always in a furry company capable of tonning down the polised look while building sensorial interest.

Incredible textures thrived over neutral blacks and whites. And there was no room to doubt the silhouettes exhaled strength at each step.
