Paris Fashion Week - Last Episode

Gostei muito de Paris. Mas esperava mais sonho. De uma forma geral, os designers voltaram-se para si, tentando definir a sua essência e o que é essencial agora. Parece que precisaram de descansar das últimas opulências, tentando ajustar-se mais à crise enfadonha que assombra a economia mundial. Alguns, não só em Paris, estiveram perigosamente perto dessa palavra de cor cinzenta acastanhada indefinida. Visuais enfadonhos, aborredidos pairaram como uma ameaça. Felizmente, muitos outros conseguiram brilhar. Uns pelo minimalismo irrepreensível. Outros pelas cores e padrões vibrantes ou texturas excitantes. E, os últimos e meus prediletos, por um romantismo mais sonhador, austero ou decadente, vestido de veludos, sedas, transparências e bordados. 

Qualquer dia escrevo qualquer coisa sobre possíveis tendências e sobre os looks que considero mais inspiradores! Até lá, há toda uma primavera para fazer desabrochar ;)

I loved Paris, though I was hoping it would be more dreamy. Most designers turned to themselves, searching for their essence and for what's essential right now. It seemed they needed a break from the last couple of seasons extravaganza, trying a better adjustment to the boring crisis hunting worldwide economies. Some of them, not only in Paris, were dangerously close to that brown-grey blurred word. Boring, dull outfits threatned taking over the catwalks. Fortunatly, others managed to shine. Some with a flawless minimalism. Others with vibrant colours and patterns or exciting textures. And, at last but definitely not the least, my favorite ones pulled off a dreamy romantism, that went from austere to decadent, dressed in velvets, silks, sheer fabrics and embroideries.

One of these days I'll write a feww words on possible trends and the looks that inspired me the most! Till then, there's a spring blossoming outside ;)

A Alta Costura é dona de uma beleza e de uma aura de sonho inigualáveis. Disso, ninguém duvida. No entanto, ainda é necessário "abrir muitos olhos" para as histórias que cada pequeno ponto, cada camada de tecido de leveza quase impalpável e cada pérola delicada, têm para contar. A cultura da Alta Costura é algo que a sociedade ainda tem de ententender, estimular, trabalhar e, em alguns casos, descobrir.

Antes de mais, é preciso aprender a percepcionar vestidos como obras de arte e pôr de lado aquela ideia pré-concebida e castradora de que a moda é frívola, superficial e ditadora. É certo que no vastíssimo mundo da moda essas características vão estando presentes. Contudo, são mais uma consequência do uso indevido - promovido pela ganância e pela ausência de espírito critico - do que pedras basilares. Em essência, a Moda é um reflexo dos tempos. Nasceu com o Homem e sentiu na pele a sua evolução. Para o bem e para o mal. Não também esta a essência da Arte? Se nos deixamos mergulhar numa paisagem de pigmentos e óleos tentando conhecer um pouco melhor o que era o mundo antes de nós, por que não somos capazes de exteriorizar essa mesma atitude contemplativa perante um vestido?

Haute Couture inspires dreams with a unique beauty. Nobody doubts that. However, a wider awareness for stories little stitches, almost weightless fabric layers and delicate pearls have to tell is needed. The culture of Couture is something society still has to understand, stimulate, work on and, in some cases, discover.

The first and biggest step is learnig how and why a dresses can be authentic works of arts and detox from that nasty, castrating idea that fashion is frigid, shallow and dictating. Those three words do have a "physical" presence in the vast fashion world. Yet, they're more like a consequence of improper use - commanded by greed and lack of criticism - rather than cornnerstones. In essence, Fashion in a mirror of time. It was born with mankind and felt their evolution on the skin. For the best and the worst. Isn't that the essence of Art, as well? If we lose ourselves in a ladscape of pigments and oils trying to connect with the world prior to us, why can't most of us express that same contemplation in the presence of a dress?

Unveiling the Couture's backstage, Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pierpaolo Piccioli, Valentino's creative directors, justifyed the estratospheric prices an Haute Couture masterpiece can attain with the human costs surrounding every piece of their latest collection.

A título de exemplo, só no vestido da imagem anterior estão centenas de horas de trabalho, empregadas na sobreposição de camadas e camadas de organza, nos bordados de pássaros e borboletas encantadores e na construção da capa que lembra uma belíssima gaiola de pássaros. Todos os motivos e arabescos representam apenas 500 horas de trabalho manual para enrolar metros sem fim de tiras de crepe de seda. 500 horas para completar uma etapa da elaboração de um vestido. 500 horas de trabalho meticuloso, moroso. 500 horas de dedicação, de compenetração, de paixão, para que no final o esforço nem se note.

As an example, the dress in the previous picture embodies hundreds of work hours spent layering organza, embroidering charming birds and butterflies and constructing a fine bird cage cape. All the piping on that cape took 500 hours of manual rolling and countless meters of crepe. 500 hours to finish one step in the assembling of one dress. 500 hours of careful, meticulous work. 500 hours of dedication, concentration and passion, so we can't even notice the effort in the end.

Toda a colecção é inspirada num jardim cheio de detalhes românticos, labirintos e girassóis. Um jardim absolutamente gracioso, que só nos deixa ver uma beleza quase irreal, bem distante do suor do jardineiro.
Tal como Piccioli diz, "a alta costura tem que ser mágica" e todo o trabalho tem que aparentar ter sido executado - com todo o rigor e delicadeza - por fadas transparentes.

The whole collection was inspired by a garden full of romantic details, labirinths and sunflowers. An absolutely graceful garden that only shows an almost unreal beauty, way far from the gardener's sweat.
As Piccioli stated, "couture has to be magical" and all the work must look like it was finely accomplished by transparent fairies.

Os labirintos surgiram de uma forma maravilhosa. Tules pregueados, rendas, acabeamentos com relevo no próprio tecido, organzas pintadas à mão... Uma infinitude de caminhos cruzados onde a natureza e a arquitectura se encontram e a ciência e o renascimento espiritual se unem.

The labirinths were wonderful. Pleated tulles, lace, embossed fabrics, hand painted organza... An infinitude of crossed paths where nature meets architecture and sicence and spiritual rebirth become one.

 Continuou por girassóis silenciosos, delicadamente bordados. Brilhos sobre transparências e rendas puríssimas materializavam materializavam sonhos encantados, com fios iluminados e pedras preciosas.
