Ora bem... A minha relação com o meu cabelo mudou muito com o passar do tempo. Agora estou a deixá-lo crescer um pouco para lá dos ombros, porque percebi que é um comprimento que me favorece e me vai dar imenso jeito para usar penteados super volumosos ao estilo dos anos 60! Nesta estação, estou sedenta de bananas, bandoletes, laços, flores e outros tantos adornos com ar retro por toda a minha cabeça!
Well, well, well... my relationship with my own hair changed over the years. At the moment, I'm growing it a bit longer than my shoulder line because I realised that's a lovely length for me right now... and it will be great to experiment with super voluminous 60's hair styles! I'm craving beehives, bows, headbands, flowers and all sorts of retro-ish accessories all over my head this season!

Mas nem sempre foi assim... Nasci praticamente careca. Só assim com uma penugenzita bem loira (é uma pena que tenha escurecido), que começou a crecer brilhante e encaracolada. Adorável! Mais tarde, essa coroa de cachos dourados deu lugar a uma massa estranha e acastanhada. A culpa foi toda das hormonas e da pré-adolescência. Mas deixemps isso para lá. O mais importante é que aí dos meus 5 aos 18 anos queria que o meu cabelo fosse comprido para sempre. Depois dos meus 15 anos (quando comecei a ter mais controlo sobre as vontades assassinas das cabeleireiras), o meu cabelo cresceu imenso. E, desde então, a minha cabeleira longa e encaracolada tornou-se uma imagem de marca. Na altura tornei-me fâ de madeixas para que o cabelo parecesse mais loiro.
But it wasn't always like this... I was born with very little hair. Very little super blonde hair ( I'ts a pitty the years made it darker). It started gowing shiny, curly and golden! Such a pretty thing! Then, that shiny blonde crown was replaced by a dull brownish mess. Yeah, pre-teens and hormones did that. Not a good topic to talk about. The important thing here is both 5-year-old an 18 year-old me wanted a long long hair forever. My hair had grown a lot since I was 15. During my teens, I've made my long curly hair my signature. And yes' I was a fan of highlights to make it blonder and brighter.
Tesoura era a palavra proibida. Lembro-me bem de chorar ao perceber que as aparadelas ocasionais tinham encurtado o meu cabelo mais do que eu tinha pedido. Cortar o cabelo era uma grande tortura. Mas, como devem imaginar, manter um cabelo que ia para lá da linha da cintura saudável enquanto era adolescente não era pêra doce. Tinha o cabelo muito seco nas pontas. Uma vez, uma cabeleireira até me disse que metade do meu cabelo estava morto.... E eu pensei "ok, o cabelo também não passa se proteína morta" e convenci-me que bastava tornar-me mais disciplinada com máscaras e séruns.
Scisors were a forbiden word. I actually remember crying on the hair saloon when the occasional trimmings I had to submit to would get my hair hemline higher than I asked for. Yes, having my hair cut was a form of torture to me. As you can easily imagine, keeping a hair longer than your waist line healthy trimming it the litllest possible and being a teenager is not a pice of cake. My hair was pretty dry on the ends. Once, a hairdresser told me it was half dead... And I was like "ok, hair is dead protein after all" and just convinced myself it was a matter of being more disciplined with mascaras and serums.

Entretanto, tudo isso começou a mudar. Estava a fartar-me de tanto cabelo. Um belo dia, tinha eu 19 anos, fui à cabeleireira e pedi que mo cortasse a direito pela altura do queixo.
Foi a melhor decisão que tomei na vida.
But... things began to change. All that hair was annoying me. I started feelling it was actually swallowing me. One day, by the time I was 19, I went to the hairdresser and asked for a straight cut chin high.
It was the best thing I ever did.

E pronto, assim se anulou toda e qualquer hipótese de a minha relação com o meu cabelo voltar à antiga estabilidade. Também nunca fui muito extremista nas minhas experiências, porque isso não combina comigo. Mas, um par de anos depois, atrevi-me a fazer um corte pixie. Não na versão mais curta - essa ainda está na minha lista, para quando me voltar a fartar de um cabelo médio/longo.
After that, my stable relationship with my hair was gone for good. I was no longer afraid of scisors and all I wanted was to experiment. I never went too wilde because I don't have that kind of personality, but a couple of years later I tryied a pixie crop. Not the shortest version, though. But it's still on my list... When I get sick of medium-long hair again, I might give it a try ;)

Entretanto comecei a usar franja. Comecei por uma inclinada, da qual gostei bastante. Mas, a que realmente me viciou - e me tem acompanhado - foi a franja direita e farta, pela altura das sobrancelhas. Adoro a forma como equilibra as feições instantaneamente! Melhor decisão que tomei na vida número 2.
Then I started using a fringe. My first try was a slightly side swept one. It was nice, but I liked it better when I decided to cut it big and straight. In fact, I loved it! All my facial features looked instanly more balanced. Best thing I ever did number 2.

Pelo meio de crescimentos e cortes, a cor também sofreu alterações. Fartei-me da base acastanhada com madeixas loiras. Tinha 20 anos que queria um loiro platinado. A primeira tentativa não correu muito bem, apesar de ter feito tudo num salão profissional. Digamos que no final da descoloração o meu cabelo estava AMARELO. Não, não ficou amarelado. Era mesmo amarelo. Quase tive um ataque cardíaco. Felizmente, a minha cabeleireira conseguiu contornar a questão, embora tivesse deixado o salão com o cabelo mais amarelo do que esperava. Foi nesse dia que descobri que o meu cabelo tem um pigmento amarelo muito forte...
In the mean time, I also got tired of my brownish base with light blond highlights. And I went a bit extreme. At the age of 20 I wanted a whitish blonde. Things didn't go very well the first time. And I did it at a professional saloon. When the needed bleaching was done, my hair was actually YELLOW. I almost had a heart attack. Fortunatelly, my hairdresser was able to fix it. But the colour was still more yellow then I expected. That was the day I learned my hair a very strong yellow pigment...
Essa experiência também me serviu para constatar que a minha pele não fica com um tom muito favorecedor quando o cabelo se torna amarelado. Quando voltei à cabeleireira para retocar as raízes,ela sugeriu-me um tom de loiro mais acinzentado. O resultado ficou fabuloso! O meu cabelo parecia uma mistura de fios de ouro esbranquiçado e prata antiga.
Another thing I've learned from that experience was my skin looks super dull when my hair about to become yellow. The first time I needed to fix my roots, my hairdresses invited me to try a greyish shade of blonde. The outcome was amazing! My hair was like a mixture of antique silver and whitish gold.
Infelizmente, essa cor tão bonita nunca durava mais do que duas semanas... A minha base amarelada arranjava sempre forma de emergir... --'

Alguns meses mais tarde, fartei-me de raízes, retoques e amarelos teimosos. Pintei o cabelo de um tom meio bronze, um pouco mais escuro que a minha base natural. No fundo era castanho. Gostei, mas aborreci-me depressa. Algumas madeixas e o sol do verão deram-lhe uma nova luminosidade.
Well, I grew tired of the roots touch ups and the stubborn yellowness and died my hair a bit darker than my natural tone. It was really brown. I liked it, but got bored little after. Highlits and summer manage to make it a bit lighter again.
A maior verdade é que depois do corte pixie o meu cabelo cresceu super saudável e com um brilho natural que já não tinha há anos! Gostei tanto disso que o tenho vindo a usar na cor natural, com apenas algumas madeias dois tons abaixo (nada de muito claras) para o iluminar ainda mais e texturizar um pouco. Com o passar dos tempos, consegui ir ficando com aquele efeito ombré, que me deixou mais do que satisfeita por muito tempo.
Then, after my pixie crop my hair has been growing super healthy and glossy. I've been wearing my natural shade with highlits a bit blonder, just to give it a bit of texture. Over the months I aquired a kind of an ombré effect, which I loved for a long time.

E pronto, voltei a aborrecer-me. Ando com uma vontade enorme de me ver ruiva. Acho que os ruivos claros e meio alaranjados combinam super bem com peles clarinhas como a minha. Só estou com medo do pigmento amarelo... Ainda assim, tenho qualquer coisa me diz que não vou resistir por muito mais tempo! Vou ceder mais cedo do que pensam! xD
Now I'm bored again. I want a lighter head. And I'm really considering becoming an orangy read head. It's a super flattering shade for fair skin like mine. I'm just afraid of the yellowness... But I guess I'll give in one of these days! Sooner than you think! xD
