Toledo
Como Salamanca não estava muito longe, aproveitámos algumas horas da tarde para visitar Toledo.
As Salamanca wasn't too far, we took a few hours to visit Toledo right after leaving Madrid.

Do alto de uma colina, o centro histórico de Toledo vigia a cidade moderna e a imensidão de campos de cultivo em volta.
From the top of a hill, Toledo's old town watches the modern city and a huge extension of fields nearby.
Assim que se chegamos ao topo e, descendo pouco a pouco, nos vamos embrenhando no coração medieval em tons de terra gasta pelo sol, o ar confortável de cidade pequena toma conta de nós e incita-nos a vaguear por ruelas estreitas, à descoberta de encantos e recantos.

From the moment we get to top and start going further into the medieval heart of the old town, the sun bleached earthy colours of the buildings instantly enchant us with their comfortable small town looks. These, in their turn, make us want to wander the narrow streets searching for beautiful charms around every cornner.
Toledo é também uma importante cidade universitária, repleta de bonitas (e frescas! diga-se que, nesse dia, o calor era implacável!) catedrais e igrejas e de museus que contam a sua história.
Toledo is still an important academic city, filled with interesting cathedrals, churches and museums that tell the city's history.
